Stonewall Stallions becomes the first Kentucky stud farm to announce their 2008 stud fees. Here they are:

IT’S NO JOKE — $7,500 — DOWN from $10,000 in 2007
LAWYER RON — $30,000 — Retiring to stud in 2008
LEROIDESANIMAUX — $17,500 — DOWN from $25,000 in 2007
MARQUETRY — $7,500 — NO CHANGE from 2007
MEDAGLIA D’ORO — $40,000 — NO CHANGE from 2007
SPELLBINDER — $5,000 – Retiring to stud in 2008
STRONG CONTENDER — $10,000 — Retiring to stud in 2008
UNFORGETTABLE MAX — $6,500 — DOWN from $7,500 in 2007
VALUE PLUS — $12,500 — NO CHANGE from 2007

Stonewall Changes for 2008 – Up: 0, Down: 6, No Change: 4

Yearling sales averages normally determine stud fees. The large mare books that stallions now cover will almost certainly lower those averages, and the net result should be lower stud fees. Congrats to Stonewall for changing with the times!
